Moscow, 14 November (H.S.): A Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in the Karelia region of northwestern Russia, killing both crew members. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 PM Moscow time.

The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the crash and the deaths of the two pilots . The aircraft, which was on a scheduled training flight, went down in a dense forest in the Prionezhsky district.

The governor of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, stated that there were no casualties or damage on the ground.The Defence Ministry reported that the flight was performed without any ammunition on board. An official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash, with a special commission formed to examine the incident.

The investigation will consider both technical failure and pilot error as possible causes.The Su-30 is a twin-engine, two-seat multirole fighter jet used for a variety of missions and is a significant part of Russia's air force. This crash is one of several non-combat aviation accidents involving Russian military aircraft in recent months.

The crash occurred near the Besovets airfield, which is home to the 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment.
