Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), has been honored with the 'Maritime Excellence Award' for its historic contribution to India's maritime heritage and development. The award was presented in the Heritage category during the prestigious 'India Maritime Week 2025' held in Mumbai.
Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Shantanu Thakur presented the award to SMPK Chairman Rathendra Raman at a grand ceremony. Senior port officials were also present to witness this proud moment and celebrate the institution's historic achievement.
This honor recognizes SMPK's 155 years of outstanding service and glorious journey, which has seen it transform from a historic sea gateway of Eastern India to a modern, progressive, and economically vibrant hub.
