Expelled AIADMK Leader K.A. Sengottaiyan to Challenge Removal in Court

Chennai, 1 November (H.S.) : Former Tamil Nadu Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan announced Saturday that he will approach the court to contest his recent expulsion from the AIADMK. The veteran leader, who served as an MLA even before the current leadership, strongly criticized General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), alleging that he is acting like a dictator and against the established party law.

Sengottaiyan lamented that his more than 50 years of commitment and sacrifice to the party had been disregarded, stating he should have at least been given a notice to offer an explanation as per party law. He expressed profound sadness over the decision, admitting he shed tears and could not sleep the night it occurred.

In a fierce counter-attack, Mr. Sengottaiyan accused EPS of behaving as the prime culprit ('A1') and claimed the ruling DMK party is actively supporting the General Secretary. He stated his meetings with other expelled leaders, like O. Panneerselvam, were purely an attempt to ensure the party remained strong and united. He further suggested that if a Nobel Prize were to be given for betrayal, it should go to Mr. Palaniswami, who he says changes his stand every day.

Responding to the allegations, General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami maintained that the decision was made strictly in accordance with the law. He announced the expulsion from the party's primary membership and all posts following allegations that Mr. Sengottaiyan acted against party principles and maintained contact with individuals previously expelled, including TTV Dhinakaran.

Palaniswami asserted that the party headquarters cannot remain a mute spectator when someone actively tries to weaken the organization and urged all party members to immediately cease all forms of contact with the expelled leader.
