SSB 24th Battalion rescues python in Assam


Tamulpur (Assam), 4 September (HS): A joint rescue operation was conducted on Wednesday by Border Outpost Bimlanagar of 24th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) located in Rangia of Kamrup (rural) district and Forest Department Outpost Bagrikhuti No. 2. During the operation, a large python snake, whose length was 8.4 feet, weight-12 kg, was rescued near Hastinapur village located in Indian territory, about 5.5 km from the Indo-Bhutan border.

The rescued python snake was handed over to Forest Department Outpost Bagrikhuti No. 2 by the SSB. The 24th Battalion of SSB is continuously running such operations to discharge its duty of protecting the Indo-Bhutan border. The 24th Corps is regularly meeting with local citizens on the border and encouraging them to inform the nearest SSB border post or Corps headquarters if they see any kind of criminal activity or illegal smuggling.
