New Delhi, 11 December (H.S.): The Delhi High Court sought the response of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a petition that seeks a court-monitored inquiry into the alleged corruption and quid pro quo involved in donations made through electoral bonds to different political parties.
The bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, clarified that it was not examining the allegations but wanted to hear the CBI's stance on the matter.
The court also expressed its doubt about the genuineness of the petition and stated that it seemed to be a roving and fishing inquiry without any substantial evidence. The petition has been criticised for lacking credibility and trying to initiate a baseless investigation.
