Sensex, Nifty close higher; capital goods, IT top gainers


New Delhi, 27 June (HS): The Indian market closed higher for the third consecutive session on June 27, as global cues improved. The Sensex gained 433 points to 53,161, while the Nifty gained 132 points to 15,832. The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies increased to Rs 244.64 lakh crore, up from Rs 242.21 lakh crore the previous session.

The top Sensex gainers were L&T, HCL Tech, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra, which rose up to 2.99 percent. The only Sensex losers were Kotak Bank, RIL, and Titan, which fell up to 0.45%.

Capital goods and information technology stocks were the top sectoral gainers, with their respective BSE indices ending 574 and 567 points higher.

The BSE sectoral indices all finished in the green.

On the BSE, market breadth was positive, with 2,383 stocks ending higher and 1046 stocks falling. 146 stocks remained unchanged.
