Sensex jumps up to 694 points


New Delhi, May 13 (HS): After facing a decline for five consecutive trading days, the domestic stock market is showing slight strength on Friday. The stock market started trading with a strength of more than one percent, but in the first hour of trading itself, it decreased to close to 0.5 percent. Although the market remained in the green during this period, the gains continued to decline due to selling pressure.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex started trading at 53,565.74 points with a gain of 635.45 points. There was a slight sell-off in the market in the initial five minutes of trading, but after that there was a strong buying environment for some time, due to which the Sensex rose 694.94 points to the level of 53,625.25 in the first 15 minutes of trading.

The market seemed to be moving towards a strong uptrend at this time, but at the same time all-round selling started, due to which the Sensex started sliding down sharply. Although buyers kept on buying from time to time to handle the market, but due to selling pressure, it continued to decline. Due to the continuous selling, the gains made by the Sensex at the time of opening also decreased continuously. The Sensex was trading at a level of 53,193.69 with a gain of 263.38 points at 10:15 am after trading for the first 1 hour between the ongoing buying and selling in the market.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also started trading today with a strength of 169 points from the level of 15,977 points. After the market opened, the Nifty jumped 224.30 points to reach 16,032.30 with the support of buying in the first 15 minutes of trading. But as sellers became active at this level, the market could not handle this strength.

Nifty's move started declining due to selling pressure in the market. In between, buying was also done to handle the market, but due to selling pressure, Nifty kept falling down and its initial gains also went down. The Nifty was trading at a level of 15,908.25 points with a strength of 100.25 points at 10:15 am after trading for the first 1 hour amid continuous buying and selling.

Amid positive global sentiments, the domestic stock market today started trading strongly in the pre-opening session. In this session, the BSE Sensex was up by 274.99 points, or 0.52 percent, at the level of 53,205.29 points. On the other hand, Nifty had reached the level of 15,960.15 points with the strength of 51.90 points in the pre-opening session.

Before this, on the last trading day i.e. on Thursday, the Sensex had closed at a level of 52,930.31 points, down 1158.08 points or 2.14 percent. On the other hand, Nifty had ended Thursday's trading at the level of 15,808 with a dive of 359.10 points or 2.22 percent.
