New Delhi, 24 November (HS): Due to strong global cues on Thursday, the domestic stock market is on a bullish trend. Both the Sensex and Nifty indices started trading today with gains. After slight movement in the initial minutes, both indices took an uptrend. After the first 1 hour of trading, the Sensex was trading with a strength of 0.45 percent and Nifty by 0.47 percent.
Among the heavyweights of the stock market, Apollo Hospitals, Tata Consumer Products, HDFC Life Insurance, BPCL and ONGC were trading with a strength of 2.86 per cent to 1.17 per cent in early trade. On the other hand, shares of Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra and Asian Paints were seen trading with a weakness of 0.49 per cent to 0.12 per cent.
In the trading so far, there were active trading in 1,893 shares in the stock market. Out of these, 1,344 stocks were trading in the green mark by earning profits, while 549 stocks were trading in the red mark by taking losses. Similarly, out of 30 stocks included in the Sensex, 26 stocks remained in the green mark with the support of buying and 4 stocks remained in the red mark due to selling pressure. Whereas out of 50 stocks included in Nifty, 41 stocks were seen trading in green mark and 9 stocks in red mark.
Due to the strong signals being received globally, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex also started trading with an increase in the domestic stock market. The index opened at a level of 61,656 points with a gain of 145.42 points. In the initial minutes, there was a slight selling in the market, due to which the Sensex fell to 61,600.42 points. But after a while, buyers dominated the market and started all-round buying.
With the support of continuous buying, this index jumped 293.10 points to reach 61,803.68 points around 10 am. Though there was slight selling pressure at this level, the Sensex continued to rally. The index was trading at 61,785.18 points with a gain of 274.60 points at 10:15 am after the initial 1-hour trading amid continuous buying and selling in the market.
Like the Sensex, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also started trading today on a strong note due to global support. The Nifty opened at a level of 18,326.10 points with a gain of 58.85 points. Due to selling pressure in the opening minute, this index also fell to 18,294.25 points. But after this, due to all-round buying in the market, the movement of Nifty also gained momentum. After the initial 1-hour trading between continuous buying and selling in the market, this index was trading at 18,352.65 points with a gain of 85.40 points at 10:15 am.
Due to the positive global signals, the stock market started trading on a strong note even in the pre-opening session today. In this session, the BSE Sensex was at a level of 61,535.76 points with a gain of 25.18 points, or 0.04 percent. At the same time, the Nifty had reached a level of 18,347.30 points with a gain of 80.05 points, or 0.44 percent, in the pre-opening session.
Prior to this, on the previous trading day i.e. Wednesday, the Sensex closed at a level of 61,510.58 points with a gain of 91.62 points, or 0.15 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty ended Wednesday's trading at 18,267.25 with a gain of 23.05 points, or 0.13 percent.
