Kuala Lumpur, 24 Nov (HS): Anwar Ibrahim has been appointed Prime Minister of Malaysia breaking the deadlock of the hung parliament. His rival and former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has already challenged him to prove the majority in the parliament, as none of the parties could get a clear majority.
Anwar’s progressive coalition edged Muhyiddin’s conservative ethnic Malay-Muslim alliance. Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah, after consulting kings of nine states of Malaysia, appointed Anwar as the new Prime Minister.
