New Delhi, 27 October (H.S): The Delhi High Court directed the petitioner, seeking the safe evacuation of 227 Indians stranded in Afghanistan, to report to the Central Government in this concern. A bench headed by Chief Justice DN Patel gave this order directing the central government to consider the petitioner's report. During the hearing, the court raised doubts on the list attached with the petition on behalf of the petitioner, which included the names of Indians stranded in Afghanistan. When the court questioned the credibility of that list, the petitioner said that he had spoken to all the stranded Indians over phone. But the court said that we have doubts on this list. During the hearing, advocate Amit Mahajan, appearing for the central government, said that the government has tried its best to rescue the Indians trapped in Afghanistan.

The petition had sought issuance of e-visas to Indians stranded in Afghanistan so that they can come to India. The petition was filed by writer and social activist Parminder Singh Pal. Advocate Gurinder Pal Singh, appearing for the petitioner, said that Afghanistan has been completely occupied by the Taliban. Many countries conducted operations to evacuate their citizens from Afghanistan and evacuated them from there. India also ran an operation to evacuate its citizens, but still some people are trapped there.

It was said in the petition that the life of Indians trapped in Afghanistan are in danger from Taliban. They are being threatened daily by Taliban. The Government of India has neither taken any step nor helped them to bring back these citizens.
