
Imphal, 09 June (HS): Manipur Police and security forces have arrested three alleged drug traffickers in separate operations carried out in Senapati and Imphal West districts, recovering substantial quantities of brown sugar and heroin.
According to information provided by the Manipur Police Headquarters on Tuesday, security personnel apprehended two individuals at the T. Khullen Naka Post under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district on Monday. During the operation, officials recovered 12 soap cases containing brown sugar, a Grand i10 vehicle bearing registration number AS-01LC-9436, and ₹4,000 in cash. The arrested persons have been identified as Nasimuddin (38) of Devipur, Uriamghat, and Monjit (25) of Gomariguri.
In another operation conducted on the same day, security forces arrested a man from Keithelmanbi area under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Imphal West district. The accused, identified as Nongmaithem Rupu Singh (38) of Sapam Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district, was found in possession of 58 grams of heroin powder concealed in five soap cases. A vehicle used for transporting the contraband was also seized.
Police stated that security forces continue to conduct search and anti-smuggling operations in border and vulnerable areas across the state. On Monday, the movement of 130 vehicles carrying essential commodities along National Highway-37 was facilitated under security arrangements.
Authorities further informed that stringent security measures have been put in place at sensitive locations to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of vehicles. A total of 114 naka and check points were established across both hill and valley districts of Manipur as part of the ongoing security operations.-----------
