New Delhi, 09 June (H.S.): Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 International series against Ireland and England. His Gujarat Titans teammate, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, has been named as his replacement in the Indian squad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that the decision to rest Siraj was taken following consultations between the medical team and the team management. The move has been described as a precautionary measure aimed at providing the pacer with adequate recovery time ahead of a lengthy international season.
Siraj was recently part of India’s Test victory over Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. However, he had already been left out of the squad for the One-Day International series against Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna continues to receive opportunities at the international level. He is also a member of India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which begins on June 13.
Prasidh has represented India in five T20 Internationals so far, claiming eight wickets. However, he has recorded an economy rate of 11 runs per over. His most recent T20I appearance for India came against Australia in Guwahati in November 2023.
Both players played significant roles for the Gujarat Titans during the 2026 Indian Premier League season. Siraj featured in all 17 matches, while Prasidh Krishna played 12 games and contributed to the team's run to the final.
India faces a demanding international schedule in the coming months. Following the T20I series against Ireland and England, the team will play One-Day Internationals in England before embarking on tours of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
India will play two T20 Internationals against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and June 28. The team will then travel to England for a five-match T20I series scheduled from July 1 to July 11.
India Squad for the Ireland and England T20I Series:
Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
