youth of state will benefit: Kapil Dev Agarwal
Lucknow, 09 June (HS): Under the leadership of Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working
towards empowering youth with self-reliance by providing them with modern,
technology-based skills training. In this regard, the admission process for the
state's government and private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for the
2026-27 academic year and subsequent years has been made more transparent,
accessible, technology-driven, and student-friendly.
Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge)
for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said that the
new admission system is part of the Yogi government's comprehensive vision,
under which youth are being prepared for employment and self-employment by
providing quality skill training. Linking skill development in the state with
the needs of industries, ITI institutes are being developed as modern training
centers, so that the youth receiving training can get better employment opportunities
both at the national and international levels.
He explained that under the new system, candidates have been
provided with the facility to apply completely online. Students will be able to
apply to government ITIs, private ITIs, or both types of institutions,
depending on their interests and qualifications. The application process
provides extensive flexibility in selecting institutions, trades, and training
courses, allowing young people to gain admission to the trades of their choice.
The Yogi government has implemented a merit-based online
seat allocation system to ensure complete transparency in the admission
process. Seat allocation will be done in five stages, and information about
each stage will be provided to candidates on their registered mobile numbers.
This will reduce the possibility of any human intervention and ensure fair
opportunities for deserving candidates.
He said that in order to prioritize local youth, the state
government has reserved 75 percent of seats in government ITIs and institutions
run on the PPP model for candidates from the respective districts, while 25
percent of seats will be open to candidates from other districts. This will
further accelerate skill development at the local level and provide youth with
the opportunity for quality training in their own areas.
Kapil Dev Agarwal said that, strengthening the spirit of
social justice, reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other
Backward Classes, and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) will remain in effect.
Additionally, preference points will be awarded to state-level athletes, which
will help connect talented youth with skills training.
He said that the Yogi government has taken special
initiatives to promote women's empowerment. The online application fee for
female candidates of all categories has been set at just Rs. 100, so that more
girls and women can join technical and vocational training.
During the admission process, candidates will also be able
to upgrade their seats, allowing them to receive better institutions and trades
according to their merit and preferences. Additionally, special arrangements
have been made to fill vacant seats in the final phase, ensuring maximum
admission to the state's seats and ensuring that no interested youth is deprived
of skill training.
Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal said that under Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's Skill India vision and Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath's leadership, Uttar Pradesh is becoming a leading state in the
country in the field of skill development. The state government's goal is not
only to provide training, but also to empower youth for employment,
self-employment, and entrepreneurship. The new ITI admission policy is an
important step in this direction, shaping the future of millions of youth.
