Jammu, 09 June (H.S.): 12 years of Modi Government integrated Jammu & Kashmir into India’s mainstream journey. In addition, J&K also benefited from the Modi Government’s transformative journey marked by decisive governance, infrastructure development, technological advancement and welfare schemes reaching the last mile.

This was stated by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today in a special public outreach program at Hiranagar in Kathua district.

“From empowering the poor and farmers to strengthening India’s global standing, these years have laid a strong foundation for the vision of Viksit Bharat and created new opportunities for every citizen,” said Dr Jitendra Singh. He highlighted the transformative changes witnessed across the country during the last twelve years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the period has been marked by inclusive development, transparent governance, technological advancement and empowerment of every section of society.

The Union Minister outlined several landmark initiatives and reforms undertaken by the Government, including expansion of infrastructure, strengthening of social welfare schemes, digital governance, financial inclusion, healthcare, education and rural development. He stated that the benefits of these initiatives have reached the remotest regions of the country, ensuring that development is not confined to urban centres alone.

Referring to Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the region has witnessed holistic development over the past decade, with significant improvements in connectivity including Katra Expressway Corridor, multiple tunnel projects, public infrastructure, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and employment opportunities. He noted that various centrally sponsored schemes have accelerated socio-economic growth and improved the quality of life of the people.

The Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to the vision of Viksit Bharat and called upon citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in the nation’s development journey. He said that the achievements of the last twelve years have laid a strong foundation for building a developed, self-reliant and prosperous India by 2047.

Earlier upon his arrival, Dr. Jitendra Singh attended a commemorative programme held at Mela village Hiranagar, in memory of late Amarjeet Sharma who was found dead in his native village in June 2024. The Minister paid tributes to the deceased and interacted with members of his family as well as local residents.

Recalling the sacrifice of Amarjeet Sharma, Dr Jitendra Singh said that his martyrdom had become a symbol of courage and patriotism. He noted that Mela Village has a rich legacy of nationalism and public service and that the sacrifice made by Amarjeet Sharma would continue to inspire future generations.

The Minister highlighted that following the killing of Amarjeet Sharma, security forces intensified anti-terror operations in the region. He appreciated the unwavering support extended by local residents to the Army and paramilitary forces in preventing cross-border infiltration attempts, particularly in view of the area’s proximity to the International Border.

Paying homage to the departed soul, Dr Jitendra Singh said, “Today, on this occasion, I bow to Amarjeet Sharma. He made a significant contribution to the region and his sacrifice for the nation will always be remembered.”

Emphasising the spirit of national service, the Minister said that every citizen should dedicate his or her life to the service of the nation. “The real tribute to those who have sacrificed for the country is to serve the nation in our respective capacities with sincerity and commitment,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
