
Guwahati, 27 May (HS): For the first time in the history of the Assam Legislative Assembly, a Miya (Bangladeshi origin) Muslim legislator has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Leader of the Opposition. Senior Congress MLA Wajed Ali Choudhury has been appointed to the post.
The opposition alliance announced the appointment on Wednesday, assigning Wajed Ali Choudhury the key responsibility of leading the opposition bench inside the Assembly.
Alongside this, Dr. Jayaprakash Das has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition. The appointments are being seen as a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Assembly proceedings.----------
