27 May (HS): With the aim of providing effective benefits of public welfare
schemes to the deprived, exploited and needy sections of the society, the
review meeting of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare and Social
Welfare Standing Committee was held on Wednesday at Bhagidari Bhawan in Gomti
Nagar.
Public
representatives from various assembly constituencies participated in this
meeting, chaired by Asim Arun, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for
Social Welfare. The main objective of the meeting was to review the progress of
departmental schemes and the Dr. Ambedkar Statue Site Development Plan, gather
on-the-ground feedback from public representatives, and address shortcomings in
the implementation of the schemes.
During
the meeting, public representatives from various parties made several important
suggestions and demands to make the schemes more practical. Pending
applications for pension and family benefits, old-age pension, and the National
Family Benefit Scheme should be resolved promptly and practically. Demands were
made to increase the income limit for scholarships and to strengthen
electricity and other basic facilities in departmental hostels. In addition to
public representatives, departmental officials were also present at the
meeting.
The
Minister of State stated that the government is committed to ensuring that the
benefits of the schemes reach every eligible individual without any obstacles.
Based on suggestions from public representatives, policies will be made more
practical and accessible.
