New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to remain cautious and take all necessary precautions amid the intense heatwave conditions prevailing in various parts of the country. He urged people to stay adequately hydrated, carry water while stepping outside, and help provide drinking water to those in need.
In a series of posts shared on social media platform X on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said that extreme heat poses serious challenges for everyone. He advised people not to ignore symptoms of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, nausea, and excessive fatigue. He stated that if anyone feels weak, experiences headaches, or shows signs of discomfort, they should immediately be moved to a cool and shaded place and be given water and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS).
The Prime Minister said that children, elderly people, and those working outdoors are the most vulnerable during extreme heat conditions. He warned that ignoring such symptoms could worsen the situation and lead to heatstroke.
Modi also urged citizens to take special care of their parents, grandparents, and elderly family members. He appealed to people to regularly check on them through phone calls and advise them to drink sufficient water, avoid going out during peak afternoon heat, and take adequate rest.
The Prime Minister further called upon people to show compassion towards birds and animals during the severe heatwave. He said that keeping small bowls filled with water outside homes, balconies, rooftops, shops, and offices could prove life-saving for thirsty birds and animals.
The Prime Minister wrote, “Temperatures are continuously rising in different parts of the country, and with this, heat-related difficulties in daily life are also increasing. I urge all countrymen to take as many precautions as possible. Please keep yourselves hydrated and carry water whenever you step outside. During such weather, your sensitivity and kindness can become a great source of support for others. If possible, please offer a glass of water to someone who may be thirsty. I also appreciate those people who keep earthen pots filled with water outside their homes and shops so that anyone can drink water from them.”
In another post, he wrote, “Whenever possible, make sure to call your parents, grandparents, and other loved ones to check on their well-being. Advise them to drink enough water, avoid going out in the harsh afternoon sun, and rest as much as possible.”
The Prime Minister further stated, “During this scorching heat, we must not forget the birds and animals around us. Keeping a small bowl filled with water outside your home, balcony, rooftop, shop, or office can become a lifeline for a thirsty bird. Let us take care of one another with compassion and sensitivity during these difficult days.”
