27 May (HS): Ten recognized individuals and 24 unnamed individuals have been

booked for allegedly causing a commotion, making death threats to family

members, and assaulting people at the house of Samajwadi Party MLA Maharaji

Prajapati here, police said on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday night

at the legislator's apartment in the Awas Vikas Colony, according to reports. Anurag

Prajapati, son of Maharaji Prajapati, and Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, a former

Uttar Pradesh minister, made the complaint that resulted to the FIR. Amethi

Circle Officer Manoj Kumar Mishra stated that police hurried to the scene after

getting information about the alleged incident, but the culprit had escaped by

then.

He

stated that a preliminary investigation found that the incident arose from an

altercation on social media between the MLA's supporters, Dheeraj Pal and Sher

Bahadur Yadav, over some statements made online. According to the complaint,

Sher Bahadur Yadav and Jai Singh Yadav, together with more than three dozen

others, reportedly arrived at the MLA's house in three cars and caused a

disturbance. The complainant claimed that the accused mistreated Maharaji

Prajapati, her husband Gayatri Prajapati, and other family members, made death

threats, and attacked persons in the residence. According to Anurag Prajapati's

complaint, the accused also stole the women's cell phones in order to prevent

them from capturing videos.

According

to the official, police have filed a complaint against Jai Singh Yadav and

others under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita's Sections 115(2) (voluntarily

inflicting harm), 191(2) (rioting), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352

(intentional insult).
