New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): The main national event for International Yoga Day 2026 will be held in Kolkata on June 21 this year. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, made the announcement on Wednesday and stated that this year’s theme for Yoga Day will be “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Addressing journalists, Jadhav said that yoga is an integral part of India’s ancient tradition and a foundation of holistic health. He said that this year’s theme highlights the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being during old age.

The minister further stated that Khajuraho, owing to its cultural and spiritual heritage, has the potential to emerge as a global centre for yoga and wellness.

Jadhav also informed that under the “Yoga 365” campaign, more than two lakh people have so far participated in the 100-day free yoga training programme and received “Yoga Mitra” certificates. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has now become a global mass movement and is being practised in nearly 190 countries across the world.
