
New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, who is on a three-day official visit to Canada, held meetings on Wednesday with major pension funds, sovereign funds, and institutional investors there. During these interactions, Goyal invited investors to partner with India in sectors such as clean energy, technology, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, and manufacturing.
During the meetings, Goyal also called for exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation in financial markets in order to promote sustainable development and shared prosperity. He said that his meeting with Sun Life Financial Chief Executive Officer Kevin Strain focused on opportunities related to insurance, retirement solutions, healthcare financing, and long-term investments in India’s rapidly growing financial services sector.
The bilateral meetings with leading business executives included V. Prem Watsa of Fairfax Financial Holdings, President and Chief Executive Officer Phil Witherington of Manulife Financial Corporation, President and CEO Kevin Strain of Sun Life Canada, Group President and CEO Raymond Chun of Toronto-Dominion Bank Group, President and CEO Rahim Suleman of Neo Performance Materials, and President and CEO Max Koeune of McCain Foods.
