
New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): Global markets are showing mixed signals today. The US markets closed on a strong note during the previous session, while Dow Jones Futures were also seen trading higher today. European markets ended the previous trading session with mixed results. Similarly, Asian markets are witnessing mixed trading activity today.
During the previous session, US markets gained strength due to a rally in semiconductor stocks and positive developments emerging from the artificial intelligence sector. The S&P 500 Index and the Nasdaq managed to touch record highs. The S&P 500 Index closed 0.61 percent higher at 7,519.12 points. Likewise, the Nasdaq surged by 312.21 points, or 1.19 percent, to end the previous session at 26,656.18 points. On the other hand, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 118.02 points, or 0.23 percent, to settle at 50,461.68 points. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were currently trading 0.12 percent higher at 50,520.20 points.
European markets witnessed mixed trading during the previous session. The FTSE Index closed 0.24 percent higher at 10,491.39 points. In contrast, the CAC Index ended the session down by 1.04 percent at 8,173.11 points. Similarly, the DAX Index slipped by 204.21 points, or 0.81 percent, to close at 25,184.89 points.
Asian markets are also witnessing mixed trading today. Out of the nine major Asian markets, five indices were trading in positive territory, while four remained in the red. The Straits Times Index was trading 0.83 percent lower at 5,028.80 points. Similarly, the Hang Seng Index declined by 219.45 points, or 0.86 percent, to 25,380 points. The Jakarta Composite Index registered a sharp fall and was currently down by 1.24 percent at 6,130.19 points. Likewise, the Shanghai Composite Index was trading 1.11 percent lower at 4,099.23 points.
On the other hand, Gift Nifty was trading 0.21 percent higher at 23,963 points. Similarly, the Nikkei Index jumped by 636.91 points, or 0.98 percent, to 65,633 points. The Kospi Index witnessed a sharp rally and was currently up by 370.82 points, or 4.61 percent, at 8,418.33 points. Likewise, the Taiwan Weighted Index surged by 1,186 points, or 2.72 percent, to 44,711.37 points. In addition, the SET Composite Index was trading 1.45 percent higher at 1,575.84 points.
