New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey undertook a one-day visit to South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), during which he reviewed the company’s operational performance, infrastructure initiatives, and future development plans.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Coal said that during the visit, Dubey also met Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed issues related to coal production, infrastructure development, logistics connectivity, energy security, and industrial growth in the state.

According to the ministry, the primary objective of these discussions was to accelerate key development projects, streamline operations, and strengthen coordination between the Central and State governments to create new opportunities for economic growth and employment in coal-producing regions. On the occasion, the minister appreciated the continuous support being provided by the Chhattisgarh government for the development of the coal sector and expressed confidence that a collaborative approach would further strengthen the state’s contribution to the nation’s energy security.

The Ministry of Coal further stated that during his visit to the SECL headquarters, Satish Chandra Dubey chaired a comprehensive review meeting. The meeting reviewed coal production, transportation, quality management, safety measures, digitalisation initiatives, environmental sustainability measures, coal gasification projects, mine closure activities, CSR initiatives, and the company’s future action plans.

According to the ministry, SECL Chief Executive Officer Harish Duhan informed the meeting that during the current financial year 2026–27, SECL has made the highest contribution of 26.86 million tonnes towards Coal India Limited’s cumulative production target of 100 million tonnes. He reiterated SECL’s commitment, under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, to meeting the country’s growing energy requirements.

The meeting was attended by SECL CMD Harish Duhan, functional directors, the Chief Vigilance Officer, senior officials of the Ministry of Coal, and SECL officials.
