Imphal, 24 May (HS): In a major anti-narcotics operation, Manipur Police apprehended a suspected drug trafficker along National Highway-102 in Tengnoupal district and recovered a huge quantity of opium seeds from his vehicle, official sources informed on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Tholung Koshel Lamkang (34), a resident of Thamnapokpi in Tengnoupal district, was arrested on May 23 from the Pallel Chandel Lamkhai area during a police operation.

During the search, police recovered 189.05 kilograms of suspected opium seeds from his possession. A four-wheeler bearing registration number MN06LB-1903, identified as an A-Star vehicle, was also seized in connection with the case.

Police sources said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband consignment.-----------
