Thereafter, captain Shreyas Iyer took control of the innings and guided the chase with remarkable composure and authority.
Iyer played a series of exquisite strokes throughout his innings and remained unbeaten till the end to steer Punjab to victory. He completed his maiden IPL century with a towering six, producing one of the most memorable knocks of his T20 career. His captain’s innings proved instrumental in Punjab’s vital win.
With this victory, Punjab Kings significantly improved their position in the points table and boosted their playoff prospects. Meanwhile, the defeat dealt a major setback to Lucknow Super Giants, making their road to the playoffs considerably more difficult.
