Thrissur, 24 May (H.S.): Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, along with several ministers, Congress leaders and MLAs, is set to visit Guruvayur on Sunday to attend the wedding ceremony of Revenue Minister A.P. Anil Kumar’s son, Dr. Arjun.

Dr. Arjun will marry Dr. Nirosha, daughter of Muralidharan and Mini of Thottappesheri in Kalikavu, Malappuram district. The wedding is expected to draw the participation of prominent political figures from across the state, turning Guruvayur into a major gathering point for leaders of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF).

The visit also carries significance beyond the wedding ceremony, as it marks Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s first visit to the Guruvayur temple after assuming office. Satheesan is known to maintain a long-standing personal tradition of visiting the temple at least once every month for prayers and darshan. His first visit as chief minister adds symbolic importance to the occasion.

AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, who also follows a regular practice of visiting the temple every month, is expected to offer prayers on Sunday. This will be his first temple visit following the UDF’s electoral victory in the state assembly elections.

Senior Congress leader and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, who traditionally visits Guruvayur on the first day of every Malayalam month, had already made an early morning Nirmalya Darshan at the temple a few days ago. He too is expected to participate in Sunday’s programmes and offer prayers.

Several cabinet colleagues of the chief minister are also scheduled to attend both the wedding and temple visit. Among those expected are ministers P.C. Vishnunath, M. Liju, Bindu Krishna and K.A. Tulasi.

With a large number of political leaders gathering in Guruvayur, the temple town is witnessing heightened activity and security arrangements ahead of the event.
