Ballia,
07 Aug (HS): A wedding procession from Bihar arrived at a flood-hit village
here on boats when roads were swamped owing to the Ganga River’s rising water level,
transforming an ordinarily traditional ceremony into a sight that astounded
people. Rajesh Kumar, a native of Bihar's Buxar district, was set to marry on
Wednesday in Beyasi village. However, as preparations were underway, the region
was devastated by a flood, making all roads to Ballia impassable. The deluge
seemed to overshadow the nuptials.
However, canceling it was not an option.
So the groom's father, Kamlesh Ram, stated, We decided to take the
procession by boat. The wedding party set off on Wednesday from Gangouli
village's embankment.
The
groom, dressed in traditional attire, was sitting on a colorfully decorated
boat, with around 25 relatives and friends accompanying him on two different
boats. Despite the lack of a DJ or music band, the rhythmic splashes of the
water and the paddlers' cries added a certain appeal to the event. The
wedding date was set a long time ago. We choose to accept the circumstance. The
waves of Ma Ganga made this wedding unforgettable, Ram continued.
Curious
villagers congregated on the riverside to observe the unexpected
spectacle. Many people uploaded videos
and photos of the wedding procession on social media.
