Chennai, 7 August (H.S.) : In a dramatic turn of events, the Tamil Nadu police have shot dead Manikandan, a 30-year-old accused in the murder of a Special Sub-Inspector (SSI). According to reports, Manikandan was killed in an encounter with the police in Udumalpet area of Tirupur. The police claimed that Manikandan attacked a cop with a weapon while trying to escape, prompting the police to open fire.
The deceased accused, along with his father Murthy and brother Thangapandi, were wanted in connection with the SSI murder case. The police had been tracking Manikandan, and a special team was formed to apprehend him. During the encounter, Manikandan allegedly assaulted a police officer, leaving them no choice but to use force.
Manikandan's father and brother were already taken into custody by the police prior to the encounter. The police had been working tirelessly to bring the accused to justice, and this development marks a significant breakthrough in the case.
