Bhubaneswar, 7 August (H.S.): Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan paid a heartfelt tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his death anniversary, remembering him as a visionary poet, Nobel Laureate, and an extraordinary educationist whose contributions have left an indelible mark on Indian culture and society.
In a message shared on social media, the Minister honoured Tagore as the composer of India’s National Anthem and a towering literary figure who played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s cultural consciousness.
Gurudev Tagore gave a new direction to Indian cultural awakening through his remarkable contributions to literature, music, and education, said Pradhan. He further highlighted Tagore’s legacy in the field of education, particularly through the establishment of institutions like Visva-Bharati and Santiniketan, which reflect a unique synthesis of Indian knowledge traditions and modernity.
Gurudev’s writings instilled a sense of self-awareness and confidence in the Indian psyche. His multidimensional thoughts will continue to illuminate the world for generations to come, the Minister added.
