- A high-level dialogue will be held with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and other senior officials from the Ministry of Defence
New Delhi, August 07 (H.S.): Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, Chief of the Australian Army, will visit India from August 10 to 14 for high-level discussions with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and senior Ministry of Defence officials. This visit aims to enhance military cooperation between India and Australia, focusing on partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region. It follows the visit of India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, to Australia four months prior, where he met with senior Australian defense leaders to discuss maritime security, capacity building, and defense technology exchanges.
Stuart's trip will prioritize joint training, exercises, defense technology, and operational coordination, underscoring the strategic importance of the India-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership. Both countries are committed to maintaining a stable, rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific.
The 2+2 ministerial dialogue held in New Delhi in November 2023, with another projected in Australia in 2025, highlights the ongoing high-level engagement between the nations. These dialogues, along with associated working groups, will further enhance cooperation in capacity building, logistics, interoperability, and strategic orientations, reflecting the deepening defense ties at the government level.
