Jammu, 19 July (H.S.): BJP senior leader, and MLA, Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma and MLA Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Bhagat listened to the grievance of the people in a public darbar held at party Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, here, today.

A large number of people from various areas, including Mawa Brahmana, Janipur Colony, Chinore, Raja Bazar (Akhnoor), Ambphalla, Barnai, Roop Nagar, Keran, Nanak Nagar, Karwanda, Sarwal, Domana, Purkhoo, Ban Talab, and Jagti (Nagrota), attended the “public darbar” to voice their concerns.

Attendees, representing diverse backgrounds, presented a wide array of civic and service-related issues. Prominent among the issues put forth by the delegation included regularization of daily wagers employed under the Jal Jeevan Mission. They also highlighted the urgent need for repair of dilapidated lanes and drains, resolution of land ownership disputes, and restoration of damaged roads.

In addition to it issues related to public infrastructure were frequently raised, including the installation and repair of street lights, provision of Mark-II hand pumps, and the fixing of drain gratings and electric poles. Furthermore, residents emphasized the necessity of upgrading power transformers and addressing the persistent scarcity of drinking water.

Sham Lal Sharma specifically addressed the issue of frequent power outages, particularly in metered areas. He strongly urged the concerned Department to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, stating, “In this oppressive heat and humidity, power cuts even in metered areas are unacceptable. Regular power should also be ensured on special feeders supplying PHE stations.”

Mohan Lal Bhagat underscored the critical importance of accountability within departments responsible for essential services. He remarked, “The departments must be monitored consistently. People cannot be allowed to suffer due to negligence or inefficiency.”

During the darbar, both leaders patiently listened to all submissions. Several pressing matters were immediately taken up with senior officials over the phone, and in certain instances, formal letters were issued to expedite the resolution process.

The proceedings of the public darbar were coordinated by Er. Dil Bahadur Singh Jamwal.
