Mumbai, 19 July (HS): Three women drowned in the Chandrabhaga River in Pandharpur in Solapur district on Saturday morning. The dead bodies of two were recovered, while search for the third one was in progress.
According to police, three women from Bhokhardhan
tehsil of Jalna district had come to Pandharpur to have Darshan of Lord
Vitthal. Before entering the temple, they wanted to take a bath in the
Chandrabhaga River. The flow in the river was strong as water from Ujni Dam was
released into the river. When three were drowning, the local administration
rescued Sunita Sapkal (43) and Sangita Sapkal (40). However, both died. The
search for the third woman was in progress.
