Imphal, 19 July (HS): Manipur Police has achieved great success in the operation conducted within 24 hours. Police spokesperson said on Saturday that a rebel of the banned outfit PREPAK was arrested from Lamaram Lamkhai located on Tiidim Road under Nambol police station area. The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Leichombam Ajitkumar Singh alias Inaotamba, resident of Lamaram Mamang Lekai, Nambol police station area.
Ajit Kumar is accused of extorting money from government employees, traders, hospitals, schools and colleges. Police seized a white Maruti Suzuki Franx Delta car, a mobile phone and Airtel SIM card from him.
Security forces recovered a huge quantity of ammunition during an operation from Chingjao Island area located at Pumlem Pat under Arong Nongmaikhong police station area. This includes 1406 rounds of 9 mm bullets, 125 rounds of .303 bullets and seven blank cartridges.
Besides this, Manipur Police arrested two vehicle thieves from Kalikhong Oil Pump under Lilong Police Station area of Thoubal district. The arrested accused have been identified as 19-year-old Mohammad Achouba, resident of Lilong Sirinthong and 20-year-old Mohammad Abdul Razak alias Churanthaba, resident of Lilong Makha Lekai.
A Royal Enfield Gorilla model motorcycle has been seized from their possession.
Police is conducting further investigation in these cases.
