Prayagraj,
19 July (HS): A convict serving life sentence in a murder case in Central Jail
Naini died during treatment at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital on Saturday. On
receiving the information, Naini police got the body post-mortem done after
preparing a Panchnama. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner of
Police Yamunanagar Vivek Chandra Yadav.
He
told that Naresh Singh, 65 years, son of late Ram Adhar, a resident of Kauharam
village of Baberu police station area of Banda district, was serving life
sentence in Central Jail for almost eleven months in the case of murder of
father and son near their house in 1991. He was already being treated in jail.
But three days ago, after his condition deteriorated, the doctors sent him to
Swarooprani Nehru Hospital, where he died on Saturday morning during treatment.
The doctors informed the responsible officials about the death of the prisoner.
On receiving this news, the family members of prisoner Naresh Singh also
reached there.
Gangavathi,
wife of deceased prisoner Naresh Singh, said that in 1991, Rajkishore and his
13-year-old son Ashish of the same family were murdered with a sharp weapon. In
this case, the police had sent five people to jail, include my husband.
However, all were released on bail. But in 2005, the district court sentenced
them to life imprisonment, so all went to the High Court where the sentence was
upheld and there was some hope from the Supreme Court, but there too they were
disappointed and all were arrested and sent to jail. About 8 months ago, he was
attached to the Naini Central Jail from Banda.
