Dhubri (Assam), 19 July (HS): Dhubri police on Saturday detained a eunuch, Sarvin Khatun, from Bagulamari area. The action was taken after a complaint from the local eunuch community.

The complaint was lodged at the Dhubri Sadar police station, alleging that some Bangladeshi nationals were illegally living in the area and actively involved in activities.

The complainants claimed that Sarvin Khatun is a citizen of Bangladesh and is living in Dhubri without valid documents. They also alleged that several Bangladeshi eunuches have been living in the district for the last four years, causing concern among the local transgender community.

According to sources, Sarvin Khatun could not produce any Indian identity card during preliminary interrogation. The Dhubri police have started investigating the matter to confirm her citizenship and investigate the broader allegations raised in the complaint.
