Cooch Behar, 19 July (H.S.): In a fresh political shift in Cooch Behar, Tapas Roy, a BJP member of the Borosholmari Gram Panchayat in Cooch Behar district, along with his supporters, joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday.

The joining ceremony was held at the Cooch Behar District Trinamool Congress Office in the presence of TMC MP Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia, where the new members formally announced their induction into the party.

Speaking at the event, Tapas Roy said that he was inspired by the developmental work of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, which motivated his decision to switch to the TMC. He added that his aim is to accelerate the pace of development in his village.

MP Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia said, Many BJP panchayat members have previously joined the Trinamool Congress. We expect more to follow in future.
