Morigaon (Assam), 18 July (HS): Jagiroad police of Morigaon district conducted a drive based on secret information and arrested two peddlers with huge quantity of heroin.
Police said on Friday that during the drive conducted in the police station area, the both peddlers were arrested with 59 grams of heroin hidden in five soap boxes. The arrested peddlers have been identified as Azizur Rahman, resident of Hathikhali, Hojai and Maqsidul Mamin of Nagon.
The two arrested accused were taking the recovered heroin from Nagon towards Guwahati. Meanwhile, during the drive conducted on National Highway 27, both were arrested. Both the peddlers were smuggling the recovered heroin by cleverly hiding it in the door of the car (AS-23Q-1763). The value of the seized heroin has been estimated to be around ₹12 lakh. Police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act in this regard and are investigating the matter.
