Keyi Panyor (Arunachal Pradesh), 18 July (HS): Traffic on the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) between Hoj and Potin was badly affected due to a landslide following heavy rains in Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The incident took place around 2:30 am near the Welcome Gate of the district when a large portion of the highway was completely blocked due to a huge amount of mud and big boulders falling from the hill.
The sudden road blockage left hundreds of commuters, including locals, daily wagers and those coming from far-off places, stranded for hours. The road remained closed for most of the morning, with commercial and private vehicles standing in long queues on both sides.
Commuters faced huge delays and inconveniences in movement.
Taking control of the situation, the district administration immediately deployed workers and heavy machinery to clear the debris. After several hours of hard work, the road was cleared and traffic was restored by noon.
The administration has appealed to travellers to be extra cautious on hilly roads during monsoon and assured that the monitoring and maintenance process is going on continuously to ensure public safety.
