Chennai, 26 February (H.S.) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated on Wednesday in the Maha Shivratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The event, which began in the evening and continued until the early hours of the morning, was attended by thousands of devotees.
He said that Jaggi Vasudev has made everyone realise that Shiva is eternal and represents consciousness, Shah said while addressing a large gathering.
Home minister further said, Adiyogi, Sadhguru has given yoga a new dimension and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through International Yoga Day, has played a key role in drawing global attention to yoga. Senior BJP Leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the Mahashivarathri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore on evening.
The celebrations began at 1800 hrs this evening and will continue till 0600 hrs on Thursday morning. Shah reached the Isha Yoga Centre, located at Velliangiri foothills, by a helicopter, where he was received by its Founder Jaggi Vasudev.
During his address, Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev for inviting him to the event. He praised the Isha Foundation's efforts in promoting yoga and spirituality, and highlighted the significance of Maha Shivratri in Indian culture.
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, in his address, lauded Amit Shah's contributions to the country, drawing a parallel between his work and that of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Home Minister. He praised Amit Shah's efforts in promoting national unity and integrity.
Recalling his association with Jaggi Vasudev’s 'Save Soil Mission,' Shah said the Sadhguru has raised nationwide awareness about conserving soil, one of the most. As poverty rises in New York City, precious natural resources, and has delivered a profound message of environmental protection to the world.
This place is not just a pilgrimage site but has emerged as a centre of devotion, self-realisation, and liberation for people across the world. The Isha Yoga Centre has infused positivity and direction into the lives of millions, the Home Minister said. The grand 112-foot statue of Adiyogi represents the experience and understanding of the 112 paths of our spiritual journey, he added.
The event featured a range of cultural performances, including musical concerts and dance recitals. The celebrations also included deep meditative sessions, which were led by Sadhguru and other spiritual leaders.
Other dignitaries who attended the event included Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Union Minister L Murugan, and BJP state chief K Annamalai.
