New Delhi, 9 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasized the enduring significance of Sanskrit in India’s cultural and spiritual heritage, pointing to its daily presence in Doordarshan’s Suprabhatam programme as a living example of how ancient wisdom continues to enrich modern life.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister commended the programme for featuring a Sanskrit subhāṣita—a wise saying—each morning, which he said seamlessly integrates moral values and Indian cultural ethos.
The Prime Minister wrote in Sanskrit:
“दूरदर्शनस्य सुप्रभातम् कार्यक्रमे प्रतिदिनं संस्कृतस्य एकं सुभाषितम् अपि भवति। एतस्मिन् संस्कारतः संस्कृतिपर्यन्तम् अन्यान्य-विषयाणां समावेशः क्रियते। एतद् अस्ति अद्यतनं सुभाषितम्….”(Translation: “Every day, Doordarshan’s Suprabhatam programme features a Sanskrit subhāṣita. It encompasses a wide range of themes—from culture to moral conduct—reflecting India’s rich civilisational depth.”)
The post was accompanied by a video snippet from the morning broadcast, further emphasizing how Doordarshan continues to serve as a bridge between traditional Sanskrit wisdom and contemporary media platforms.
PM Modi’s message reiterated the government’s broader effort under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative to revive and popularize India’s ancient languages, showcasing their relevance and adaptability in modern communication.
