Los Angeles, 9 December (H.S.): Jimmy Kimmel has extended his contract with Disney-owned ABC by one year, ensuring the continuation of Jimmy Kimmel Live! into mid-2027, sources confirmed on Monday. The deal comes months after the late-night host's show faced temporary suspension amid a high-profile clash with President Donald Trump's administration. The controversy erupted following Kimmel's comments on the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, where he accused the MAGA gang of exploiting the tragedy.

Trump's Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr reportedly threatened licenses of ABC affiliates unless they demanded Kimmel's removal, prompting affiliates Nexstar and Sinclair to drop the show temporarily.

Disney swiftly suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! nationwide, but public and Hollywood backlash led to its swift reinstatement after a week. Kimmel returned with a fiery monologue denouncing government censorship attempts as anti-American, while continuing to satirize Trump for dozing in meetings and mangling foreign leaders' names.

At Sunday's revamped Kennedy Center awards ceremony, Trump renewed his attacks, labeling Kimmel horrible and joking about ratings superiority. Kimmel's bold extension signals resilience against ongoing pressure from conservative critics seeking his cancellation.
