
Nagpur, 09 Dec (HS): The work of construction of 65
new hostel buildings for the OBC students has been started. The important proposal
which was pending for the last ten to twelve years was started by Minister Atul
Save immediately after getting the portfolio. Space in all other districts are
being searched, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Legislative
Assembly in reply to a question by Manish Chaudhari.
The government aims to provide own buildings for the
hostels instead of rented ones. The Revenue Department has transferred land in Pune,
Jalna, Buldana, Bhandara, Wardha, Gadchiroli, and Ratnagiri districts. Various
other departments have transferred the required land in Solapur, Sangli, Dhule,
Dharashiv, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Washim, Chandra and Gondia. The process
is in progress in Nagpur, Kolhapur, Satara, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Latur,
Nanded, Hingoli, Beed, Parbhani, Sindhudurg, Palghar, Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar, and Ahilyanagar, Fadnavis said.
OBC Welfare Minister Atul Save informed that all the
Commissioners and District Collectors have been directed to complete the
process within six months. In all the districts 1200 OBC students are getting
financial support between Rs 38,000 and Rs 60,000 under ‘Aadhar’ and Swayam’
schemes.
CCTV camera are being installed at girls’ hostels, and
flying squads will be constituted for their security.
