
Chandrapur,
09 Dec (HS): A young female cub of T-7 tigress from Tadoba Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur
was relocated to Western Ghat region. This is an effort to promote genetic
diversity and wildlife conservation. The female cub, T 7-FS-2 has been
successfully captured and relocated on Monday.
A systematic
plan was drafted to cage the female cub in core area of Tadoba and Kolar Forest
Range. The mission is also aimed at improving number of tigers in the Sahyadri
Tiger Reserve (STR). This was the second tigress relocated from Tadoba to STR.
Veterinary
Doctor Dr Ravikant Khobragade evaluated health of the captured before shifting
her to STR. The mission was executed under the guidance of the Regional Director
of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Project Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, with Deputy Director
(Core) of Tadoba Anand Reddi and experts from other related fields.
