
Nagpur, 09 Dec (HS): A committee headed by a retired
judge will be appointed to enquire about the suicide by a doctor in Faltan Rural
Hospital in Satara district, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
assured in the Vidhan Sabha. The state government is committed to the security
of women, he added.
Replying to a question by Amit Satam, Fadnavis
informed the House that enquiry against all suspects in the case is in
progress. The writing on the suicide note was of the victim and those named in
it have been arrested for sexual and mental harassment. The accused were issued
certificate as ‘Unift’ by the victim five months ago. The CCTV footage was also
made available to the police to check who else visited her during the period,
Fadnavis said.
Referring to suicide by a girl student in Koregaon Park in Pune, Fadnavis
informed that in-depth enquiry into the case is in progress. Certain additions
in the Shakti Act have been made without
violation of the Supreme Court directives.
