Kolkata, 9 December (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant on Tuesday visited the Rasikbil Mini Zoo in Bakshirhat to review ongoing activities and assess the condition of key enclosures, officials said.

Pant arrived in the morning accompanied by Additional District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Officer Kinshuk Maity. Forest officials, including DFO Asitabh Chatterjee and ADFO Bijon Kumar Nath, welcomed the Chief Secretary on his arrival.

During the inspection, Pant visited several sections of the zoo. Officials said he was particularly impressed by the deer enclosure and the leopard habitat, spending considerable time observing the facilities.

Following the zoo visit, the Chief Secretary travelled to the Ghogarkuthi area under Chilakhana-2 Gram Panchayat in Tufanganj-I block. He reviewed the condition of the Pathashree road, the local health centre, and the Anganwadi centre, officials added.

The high-level visit has raised local expectations, with residents hopeful that pending development projects in the region will gain momentum.
