Bhubaneswar, 9 December (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday paid floral tribute to eminent poet and freedom fighter Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra on his birth anniversary. The Chief Minister offered the homage at Mohapatra’s statue located near the State Assembly.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, and several ministers and MLAs, all of whom paid their respects to the legendary poet and acknowledged his enduring legacy.

In a post on his X handle, Majhi praised Mohapatra’s immense contributions to Odia literature, language, and culture, describing him as a true pioneer of Odia identity and nationalism. He noted that Mohapatra’s timeless works continue to inspire generations, strengthening the cultural fabric of the state.

Reflecting on Mohapatra’s iconic creations, including the immortal patriotic song “Bande Utkala Janani,” Majhi said the poet’s writings remain a unifying force and an enduring symbol of Odisha’s pride. He urged people to draw inspiration from Mohapatra’s ideals and commit themselves to further elevating the state’s cultural heritage.
