Guwahati, 09 December (HS): Assam Governor and Chancellor of Cotton University Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the 4th Convocation of Cotton University and urged students to contribute to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

At the ceremony held at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium, the Governor conferred degrees on 2,804 graduates in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He praised the university’s emphasis on skill-based learning and its research collaborations with institutions like JNU, Punjab University and Tezpur University.

Acharya congratulated the graduates, highlighting their hard work and the significant presence of female students as a sign of growing empowerment. He said Cotton University stands at the crossroads of heritage and future aspirations, emerging as a major centre of education and research.

He urged students to adapt to global changes, embrace new technologies and ensure their knowledge serves society and the nation.

The Governor also conferred honorary D.Litt degrees on eminent writer Dr. Ranjit Kumar Dev Goswami and posthumously on cultural icon Zubeen Garg.----------
