- Tinsukia–Dibrugarh route affected; several major trains disrupted
Tinsukia (Assam), 07 December (HS): Train operations on the Tinsukia–Dibrugarh route were severely disrupted on Sunday morning after an oversized trailer truck got stuck at Railway Level Crossing 21DD between Lahoal and Chaulkhowa. The incident occurred around 5:30 hours when the truck attempted an unauthorised entry into the level crossing.
According to reports, the trailer belonged to a private company working on a contractual project for Oil India Limited, Duliajan, but was operating without the necessary permissions. The vehicle became lodged on the tracks, forcing a suspension of train movements for nearly four and a half hours.
Several Dibrugarh-bound trains were affected, including the 12424 Rajdhani Express, 15928 Tambaram Express and 15946 Lokmanya Tilak Express. To mitigate passenger inconvenience, NF Railway arranged road transportation to Dibrugarh and provided food packets and drinking water.
The truck was removed from the site at 10:10 hours, after which train services gradually resumed. The driver has been taken into custody. NF Railway is coordinating with Oil India Limited to initiate strict action against the concerned contractual firm to prevent such incidents in the future.
