7 Dec (HS): The Media Cup 2025 organized by the Electronic Media Club Prayagraj
was held with great enthusiasm at the DSA Ground. Four teams—Electronic Media
Green, Red, Blue, and Photo Journalist Yellow—participated in this one-day
cricket tournament.
The
tournament was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Soumya Agrawal, who
played the opening shot. To encourage the journalists, District Magistrate
Prayagraj Manish Kumar Verma stepped onto the pitch and hit a boundary.
Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma also showcased his batting
skills. Distinguished guests including Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kaushalya Nand
Giri ‘Tina Maa’ of Sanatani Kinnar Akhara, NCR CPRO Shashikant Tiwari, Mayor
Ganesh Chandra Keservani, Information Officer Indramani Pandey, Senior PRO of
North Central Railway Amit Malviya, and PRO Amit Singh graced the occasion.
The
final was played between Green and Red teams with 6 overs each. Batting first,
Green Team scored 62 runs. Chasing the target, Red Team managed only 40 runs.
Thus, Green Team emerged as the Champion while Red Team finished Runner-up. In
the first match, Red Team defeated Blue Team by 10 wickets, chasing 68 runs in
just 7 overs. In the second match, Green Team overcame Yellow Team (Photo
Journalists) by chasing 58 runs in 7 overs. In this match, Shakti Singh played
a blistering knock of 60 runs and took two wickets. He was awarded Man of the
Match and later Man of the Series. Arav Bhardwaj, captain of the Green Team,
received the Best Fielding Award.
A
large number of citizens, sports enthusiasts, political representatives, and
social workers attended the tournament. Notable guests included R.S. Patel
(National President, Janhit Sankalp Party), Dr. Namrata Jaiswal (Founder,
Maruti Dental Care for Life), Akbar Khan, Ratan Agrawal, Shivshankar Singh,
Zahida Begum (Founder, Khanam Art Gallery), Babban Dubey, Sachin Mishra, Ajay
Tatoo (BJP Leader), and Gopi Jewelers Proprietor, among others. All guests were
warmly welcomed with garlands by the club’s founder and convener Virendra
Pathak. Founder Virendra Pathak stated that the Media Cup is organized every
year to provide relief from the stressful and hectic routine of journalism. He
emphasized that journalists from electronic as well as other media institutions
of the city actively participated in this sporting event.
