Prayagraj,
7 Dec (HS): Nazareth Hospital, one of Prayagraj’s most trusted and long-serving
healthcare institutions, celebrated its Golden Jubilee with a vibrant and
dignified ceremony held at St. Joseph’s College Auditorium. The event marked 50
years of compassionate service, medical excellence, and community outreach
since the hospital’s inception in 1975. Divisional
Commissioner Saumya Agarwal was the Chief Guest for the evening, while Most
Rev. Louis Mascarenhas, Bishop of Allahabad and President of the programme,
graced the event with his presence. Other dignitaries included Rev. Msgr.
Reginald D’Souza, Rev. Fr. K. K. Antony, and Rev. Sr. Reshma Mathew UMI.
The
programme began with the escorting of dignitaries, followed by a graceful
prayer dance and the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising hope and
healing. Guests were welcomed with bouquets by the Hospital administration. A
series of cultural performances showcased the talent of nursing students,
including thematic dances on E-waste awareness, patriotism, AI and humanity,
and the much-appreciated Goan folk piece “Pinga da Pore.”
A
dramatized presentation titled “The Story of Nazareth” brought alive the
hospital’s 50-year journey—from its humble beginnings as a 50-bed facility to
its present stature as a NABH- and NABL-accredited multispecialty centre.
The
Chief Guest, Saumya Agarwal, in her address, lauded the institution’s
contribution to public health, especially its role during the COVID-19
pandemic. She commended the hospital for its commitment to serving the
marginalised and for its expansion of medical services over the decades. Former
Sisters, sponsors, benefactors, departmental in-charges, and staff were honoured
for their dedication and service. Bishop Louis Mascarenhas presented
Achievement Awards to long-serving employees, acknowledging their unwavering
commitment to patient care.
In
his speech, Bishop Mascarenhas reflected on the institution’s growth and
emphasized its mission rooted in compassion and inclusiveness. He encouraged
the staff to continue serving with dedication in the spirit of the hospital’s
founders. The event concluded with an emotional vote of thanks, acknowledging
the efforts of the organizing team led by Rev. Fr. Vipin D’Souza, the
performers, technical crew, and various service providers who contributed to
the success of the celebration. The evening ended on a patriotic note with the
National Anthem. Nazareth Hospital’s Golden Jubilee celebration was not only a
tribute to its past achievements but also a reaffirmation of its commitment to
deliver quality healthcare to the people of Prayagraj and surrounding regions.
