Newborn snatched away by wolf in Kaiserganj region

Bahraich,

7 Dec (HS): A newborn was snatched away by a wolf in the Kaiserganj region here

on Sunday, prompting an intensive search effort by forest personnel and

residents utilizing drone cameras, authorities said. According to them, both

the youngster and the predator have gone missing. According to residents, the

missing four-month-old child, Subhash, son of Santosh and Kiran of

Mallahanpurwa, was asleep near his mother when the wolf entered the house about

1.30 a.m. According to a local, the predator crept in stealthily, took the kid

from the mother's arms, gripped him in its jaws, and vanished. The villagers chased the beast, but it fled

with the infant.

The

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Ram Singh Yadav, verified the event. The event

is the latest in a string of wolf attacks that have terrified the villagers. Mallahanpurwa

has had three similar attacks in the last nine days. On November 28, a

five-year-old kid named Star was murdered in a wolf attack. On December 5, another five-year-old daughter

sustained injuries. We

learned that the infant was snatched by a wild animal approximately 1.30

a.m. Our personnel stationed in the area

began drone-assisted combing operations immediately, according to Yadav. Teams

are combing riverbanks, sugarcane fields, and other areas where sightings have

been recorded. The operation involves

trained shooters. The animal will be rescued

or, if necessary, slain, Yadav stated.

Since

September 9, the Bahraich area has been dealing with wolf attacks. Eight children and an elderly couple have

perished so far. According to the Forest Department, 32 persons have been hurt

in these attacks. On September 27, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath undertook an

airborne assessment of the affected area, ordering that the wolf be securely

trapped and, if that failed, shot.

Rescue personnel and shooters from other districts and states have been

dispatched. Since September 28, four

wolves have been killed in operations.
